Christian Education at First English Lutheran Church
SUNDAY SCHOOL: 9:30 a.m. — 10:30 a.m. Every Sunday
Sunday School is off to a great start this year with many children in attendance. We are excited to have these children join us. However, we continually hope and pray that more families will bring their children to Sunday School each Sunday so that they too can learn about Jesus and grow in their Christian faith. Parents, please also encourage your children and youth to bring guests and visitors, as we love to share the news about Jesus with everyone!
Each year, we attempt to strengthen our Sunday School ministry by adding new activities or making needed changes. This fall, we added a special music time to our opening devotion. Nicole Staedtler volunteered to serve as our Sunday morning music leader for grades 1-5. She is doing a great job leading children in some of their favorite songs from All God's People Sing. Thanks also goes to Karen Hargens for serving as our pianist. Additionally, Mavis Leinen leads music time for the Preschool-Kindergarten children in her classroom each Sunday. Nicole and Mavis plan to have the children share their musical talents in our Sunday morning worship services so be listening for those sweet little voices soon!
This year, our Sunday School children voted and adopted 2 mission projects to support with their offerings. First, they plan to support Camp Okoboji by purchasing needed items for camp. We are now currently working with Camp to develop a list of items from which they can choose. Once chosen, the children can then watch their offerings grow until they can purchase their chosen item. This mission support will hopefully be followed up with a trip to Camp Okoboji so that they can see and enjoy our beautiful LCMS church camp for themselves!
As with all ministries, our Sunday School ministry would not be in place without the support of many dedicated volunteers. This year, our ministry is once again blessed by the talents of some great teachers and support staff as follows:
Preschool (age 3)-Kindergarten — Mavis Leinen
Grades 1-2 — Julie Riessen
Grades 3-5 — Nicole Staedtler
Grades 6-8 — Heidi Westphal and Tim Kehoe
High School — Keith McCloud
Superintendent — Terry Chalstrom
In His Service,
Bonnie Kabrick
